1:00 - 2:00               Environmental Hazards: Ubiquitous and Under-addressed Jason Allen ND, MPH

As NDs, we know that environmental insults contribute to ill health.  Unless a patient comes in requesting "Detoxification", very few of us know what to look for, and when.  Questions that will be answered include: How are my patients being affected?  How can I incorporate environmental medicine into my intake? Which exposures are most concerning?  Which can be prevented?  Which can be reversed?  Dr. Allen will present recent findings from local, national, and international studies that have investigated the body burdenof environmental pollutants stored in humans.  He will discuss the association between findings in these biomonitoring studies and threats to human health, including emerging epidemics.  This presentation will cover concepts of environmental medicine, specific body burden reduction strategies, emerging chemical-disease associations, and pertinent resources for clinicians.

2:00 - 3:00              Multiple Sclerosis in the Pacific Northwest: Why the Increased Risk?

Laurie Mischley ND

The Pacific NW has one of the highest rates of MS on the planet.  Distance from the equator, weather, pollution, and diet are all being called into question as we attempt to understand the epidemiology.  Treating the cause of the disease will be emphasized.
